Pretending to be Baby

Reagan thinks its funny to play with toys she used to play with about a year ago. Whether it's over at the Lees' house or when I get a few things out whenever Alex comes over. She hasn't played with these things in ages! But, now, she likes to climb into them again. She just smiles and laughs like it's the funniest thing ever!

In Alex's carrier

In her old Baby Einstein

In Alex's Bumbo -
As Rebecca reminded me, she even put on Alex's bib that was sitting in the Bumbo. What a ham!?!

In her old take - along swing

*Look at her legs hanging off! She's gotten so big! It really makes me see how much she's grown.

Minnie the Masticator!

When Minnie chews up things (shoes, bows, toys, etc.), we always say, "Minnie!" in our sternest voice. We hold the victim in front of her and lecture her on her nasty chewing habit. It continues to happen, so our lectures don't appear to have much effect. However, Reagan seems to have caught on. The other morning, Reagan found a little Care Bear toy of hers with its nose hanging on for dear life. She picked it up and said, "Mimmy!" in her sternest voice, then went in searcher of the chewer. It was so funny!
Here she is showing me the poor Care Bear. Notice its little nose (fyi - the nose was completely missing the next day)
Here is Minnie, the culprit! She's got a hold of one of her toys this time.

My silly sweeties!

Reagan wanted Daddy's scrub hat, so he traded it for her bow. How can you not love these two?!?

Party with Friends!

Jeff & Chrissa, some friends who moved off last fall, were in town, so we threw a party for everyone to catch up with them. It was so much fun laughing and visiting with everyone. We even got some good group shots of the whole crew crammed into our little living room. Doesn't it just scream "Fun Times!"? (Check out Reagan fighting Jason)Here is a quick shot of the little ones. L-R: Alex, Jacob, Reagan, & Caroline. They will soon be joined by more though!! Caroline will be a big sister in April. Then Kekoa and Gracie will join the ranks in June!
Here are the fellas! Top L-R: Patrick, Josh, Jeff, Chris, Graeme; Bottom L-R: Jason, Clay, & Matt

Poo Addendums

I forgot to mention one of the funniest things about Reagan's poo fascination. Her favorite time to hang out with her Daddy is when he's in the bathroom "doing officework," as he likes to put it. He likes privacy during this time. But, like a moth to a flame, Reagan is drawn to the closed bathroom door. She pushes it open and goes in to talk to him. Sometimes she brings a book, so she and Daddy, who is already reading Sporting News or Newsweek, can read together. Definitely no privacy with a toddler around.

Reagan has been sick the past week. And, along with her runny nose has come a new fascination: snot. She loves to grab a kleenex, or two, or twenty, and wipe it across her nose. And, of course, whatever Reagan likes, Bear must like too. Right?

Fascination with "Poo Poo"

So, Reagan is a bit obsessed with poo. For the last month and a half or so, she has been bringing me diapers and saying, "Poo poo!" on a daily basis. So, I decided to get a little potty. We are not officially attempting to potty train her yet, I just wanted to have it around so she could get familiar with it. She LOVES sitting on it . . . fully clothed, that is! If you put her on it without her pants, she says and signs, "done, done, done!" repeatedly. She does not like it at all. However, she thinks Bear likes it. She puts him on/in the potty regularly.
Here she is pushing Bear (in the potty - along with the Burt's Bees) around the house. Followed closely by Minnie.

She has also decided that Bear and Baby (yes, I know we don't have very creative names for her little friends) both "make poo poo" alot. She'll be rocking with Baby and singing, then all of a sudden she looks at me and says, "Poo poo!" Then she hops down and fetches a diaper. She attempts to put a diaper on them both frequently.

She's asking for my help in her diaper dilemma.

Bear lying on a diaper.

Baby covered in a diaper.

Here is Reagan sitting on her potty (fully clothed) and singing to Bear.

I hope you enjoy the antics of our little one. She definitely keeps us entertained.

Praising God

Reagan has a PraiseBaby dvd that she loves. (Thanks Aunt Holly and Uncle Clee!) When I put it on , she is mesmerized! She stands in front of the TV and dances. It is so precious to see her dancing to these praise songs. To see her clapping her hands to "Here I am to Worship" and stomping her feet to "Step by Step." My heart melts as I watch her, and I'm sure God is smiling down on it too. Here are two videos so you can see for yourself. The first one was taken this morning and the second one was a few nights ago.

Cakes

As many of you know, I've been taking a cake decorating class. I'm having lots of fun with it too. I'm not that good yet, but I'm definitely getting better. Here are my cakes in the order they were made:

Cake 1: A Rainbow cake

Cake 2: Clown cake - a welcome to little Jacob Townsend

Cake 3: Super Bowl cake - Jason printed up pictures of the teams helmets and logos for me.

What do you think?

No Power . . . No Problem

We had some crazy wind on Tuesday. Well, "crazy" by Little Rock standards. To the West Texans, it was just "a little windy." And, it blew a large tree limb through some wires . . . important ones apparently, since it knocked out our power for 2 whole days! And they were chilly days at that. The temperature in our powerless house got down to the 40s. So, needless to say, we didn't stay here. Our sweet friends, Chris & Rebecca Lee, were so generous to open up their home. It was a bit of a slumber party. We watched a movie and drank hot cocoa. Reagan had a ball "helping take care of Alex." It was lots of fun! The puppies even joined the party the second night.
Once we got home Thursday and got the house warmed up and the clocks all reset, I realized that the internet wasn't working. It was actually the phone line, but who uses that anyway? That problem was finally remedied this morning (Saturday) about 11am. So, I finally feel like I'm home and things are back in order.

To be honest, all of this really just showed me how selfish I can be. I was letting a little inconvenience frustrate me when I know so many people going through so much more right now. Please pray for the following:

  • Allison Dagg: a young mother (who used to attend our church here in LR, but now lives in Lubbock) is in a coma and the doctor's don't know what has caused it or if she will recover. A friend has been passing on the emails from her husband to keep all the prayer warriors updated. And, although I've never even met the woman, I cry when I read every one of her loving husband's accounts.
  • John Glasgow: A friend's uncle is missing. The police, family, and community have been searching for him all week.
  • Kelly Chronister: My next door neighbor growing up has thyroid cancer. She just had surgery to have it removed. She is 26 and has a little boy who is about 2 and a 2 month old little girl.

A few days without power or internet certainly never hurt anyone. We lost a few groceries, but other than that . . . our house is fine, our puppies are fine, Reagan is great, Jason and I are healthy. What more could we ask for?
