Groom's Cake

Here is my first big cake project. I did a groom's cake for a wedding this weekend. The groom plays the piano and flies planes. The model plane on the cake is of the first plane he ever flew. It's a 16" x 16" double layer cake. So, it's pretty big. This took me the better part of 2 days, but I think it turned out well. I'm still learning. But, overall, I was pleased with the final product. Oh, and those are candy rocks on top as well.

Baby Shower and Dancing

Last Saturday was an eventful day in the Ramsey household. That morning, we had a beautiful baby shower for our friend Jennifer. There was a big crowd, and the Glasgows were blessed with lots of things for little Gracie. Here is a picture of Jennifer and the hostesses. (L-R: Jennifer, Elizabeth -who had a little one 8 days earlier, Rebecca T., Stacie, Rebecca L, and me)

Here's the cake I made for the shower.

On Saturday evening, Jason participated in a fundraiser called "Dancing with the Attendings." He did the tango with a pediatric attending. Reagan loved it. She loved the music. She loved the dancing. And, she loved that her Daddy was dancing. The lighting wasn't very good while they were actually performing, but here is a picture taken after the show.

Reagan also got up there and did a little dancing of her own at the end.

More Cakes

Here are some of my recent cakes.

Don't look too closely - my roses are pitiful, but I'm working on it.

Just simple flowers and vines.

I thought the basket- weave and rope border turned out really well. The birds were fun to make from color flow icing too.

You can't read it that well from the pic, but it says "GUATEMALA Medical Mission Trip 2008." My friend Rebecca is in charge of a team that is heading off during Spring Break. This was from their t-shirt design.

Cakes

As many of you know, I've been taking a cake decorating class. I'm having lots of fun with it too. I'm not that good yet, but I'm definitely getting better. Here are my cakes in the order they were made:

Cake 1: A Rainbow cake

Cake 2: Clown cake - a welcome to little Jacob Townsend

Cake 3: Super Bowl cake - Jason printed up pictures of the teams helmets and logos for me.

What do you think?
